Who is Young Scrap?
Singer, rapper, song-writer, artistic minded and big ass kid lol. But if I had to pick one word to describe me, it would be “weird”. Everybody has this idea of a “rapper” and how they’re suppose to be but I’m not that, and I’m okay with that.
What artists or producers have you worked with throughout your music career?
I’ve had a chance to work with DJ Mustard, 808 Mafia, KE On The Track ,Jahlil beats, Teeflii and Biziness Boi. All really dope creative people… I got to actually record in the studio with Dj Mustard and Teeflii, those vibes were the dopest vibes ever.
What or Who inspires you the most to create your sound?
Lil Wayne, R.Kelly, and more recently Drake. Lil Wayne’s word play is crazy, half of this generation was made to R.Kelly and Drake knows how to make hit records… CONSISTENTLY. Whenever I have writers’ block, I pop in one of those 3 artists to get in my zone.
What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
I won a Billboard award for writing V.I.C. song “Twerk it”, the fact that it even charted blew my mind. I was sitting on that song on my hard drive for almost a year before I gave it to him. So the song writer in me couldn’t be more happier about that accomplishment. My song, “Love LA” charted on Billboard Trending Songs when it released. Stuff like that makes me smile, being completely independent and all.
Do you have new music coming out any time soon? If so, where can we find it?
I just released my new album “Trill And B” on Spotify and iTunes! It’s literally my best work yet, so go get that! I’m also already working on my next album which I’m calling “Sincerely Yours, Trill Papi 💋” (no release date yet). We’re at a really good point right now with some new sounds, new producers and some dope new fan merch for the people. I can’t wait to release it.
What message do you want to get across to the younger generation?
Anything is possible if you don’t give up, and I don’t mean that light-heartedly. I was homeless with 2 dogs, sleeping outside before this. I never gave up on my dream or myself and I’ve continued to prosper because of that.
