Interview by @noritabango. Got a chance to catch up with Young Lyxx for an exclusive Alwayz Therro interview. Here’s a closer look on what he has going on…
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in San Diego, CA. In my lifetime I lived in San Diego, New Orleans, Atlanta, and now Los Angeles.
Describe a real-life situation that inspired you?
When I moved to LA my homies brought me to my first official “Hills Party” and it was everything I thought it would be. The next day I recorded a song titled “In The Hills” which is on my upcoming project #GslmpDstrct hosted by DJ MLK. Listen to the song to get my experience 🙂
What artists have you worked with throughout your music career?
I have worked with Trinidad Jame$, K-Camp, MGK, Skyzoo, Killa Kyleon, FKi, Yung Joc, Don Cannon, Caroline Burt (Dash Dolls) and the list goes on and on but those are some just to name a few.
What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
One of my greatest accomplishments was getting a song placement on a tv show on FUSETV. After receiving my first placement it inspired me to continue my journey as an artist as well as a song writer. Another great accomplishment was traveling to Thailand and doing 3 shows. That was amazing to perform overseas for the first time.
How would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as unique to me. You would have to know me to understand my sound and to understand my sound is to know me, if that makes sense. I’ve lived all over so you can hear each influence in my music.
Do you have new music coming out any time soon? Where can we find your current music?
I actually have a few different projects about to drop soon. The first to release is GslmpDstrct hosted by DJ MLK. I have already released 2 videos from it “DAYGO” & “BEEN ABOUT IT.” All my music is on my site (YOUNGLYXX.COM) or soundcloud (soundcloud.com/younglyxx-1)
What separates you from other artists?
What separates me from other artist is that I out hustle a lot of artists. I’m doing all of the things I’m doing with no investor, no budget, no label. I also pried myself on being very cultured from living all over. Which allows me to authentically make whatever sound I choose to come up with because I really been in those cities to know how that music is really crafted.
What message do you want to get across to the younger generation?
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t. I live by the simple quote “find a way or make one”.
