The Dirty Clergy Put In Work

The Dirty Clergy is an American rock & roll band from Winfield, Alabama – based in Birmingham, AL. They are known for their garage rock, grunge and punk sound with smooth vocals. They are influenced by bands such as: Oasis, The Doors, Ramones, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. They formed in 2009 by Brian Manasco and Tyler Evans as a folk duo but it wasn’t until July 2010 when the full band was formed. They have since then toured from coast to coast, places in between and most major cities.

Their first album, Truth Wars (demo), came in 2010 with the original line-up in tact. Truth Wars was very political and anti-war themed. It wasn’t long after Truth Wars the band found themselves searching for a new drummer. Their second release, The Breakdown Pt. 1 E.P., came in the Spring of 2011. This time the band traveled to San Antonio, TX to work with Strokes/Regina Spektor producer, Gordon Raphael. The Breakdown Pt. 1 E.P., was only released digitally. This brought the band to yet another critical point in their careers. Founding member, Tyler Evans was given the boot and the band traveled as a 3-piece for several months – until, again, they were searching for another drummer. This left Brian and Josh to make a decision. That decision was to make an album. They ended up doing all instruments on the album and the music was completed in late Summer of ‘11.  All intentions were to have Brian on vocals, but while on vacation in New York City Brian welcomed (high school friend) Brad White as the new front-man and upon return to Alabama Brad immediately went into the studio to lay vocal tracks for what came to be the bands third release, Revival, released in November, ’11.

It truly was a “revival” for the band as the second drummer, Kyle Estes, rejoined the band and after a long search for a bass player – Michael Pope took up the position. They successfully completed a gruling 25 day/21 show midwest tour in April/May ’12. Immediately, the guys got to work on, Shake, their fourth release. It came in the form of a 3 song E.P., released in June, ’12.

The band completed a 12 state/ 25 day/ 21 show Midwest, USA tour in early Spring 2012 – with plans for a West coast tour this fall.
