What inspired you to start a record label?
I like to be in control of all my masters and projects. In a way, I am a control freak and like to have my hands on everything.
Tell us more about how you decide what artist to work with?
I study musicians. If they are local, I like to go to their shows, see how they rock a stage and overall, feel their vibe. Furthermore, I have worked with many Grammy and platinum artists. Rappers like Paul Wall, K-Rino, Lil Flip, Spice 1 & Bizzy Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony have all been my favorites when I was growing up. Rappers like Big Tuck, Mr. Pookie, Mr. Lucci, Keynote and Headkrack are Dallas legends who I also grew up listening to. To answer your question, I make all my decisions when I either drive or hike. I come up with a topic, I contact my producers on the spot, we set a meeting at the studio and I tell ‘em which musicians I have decided to work with. Based on the features, we sit and listen to them for hours so we can choose a beat that would fit them the best. After that, I will contact them or their manager personally to talk business. The rest is history…
What is your motivation behind your business?
To inspire others…
What advice would you give someone looking to start a label?
The best investment is to invest in yourself.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
I released “Reloaded” which was my last single on 7-31-19 as I announced my retirement on our local radio station when I premiered this project. I am now working on a podcast and getting more involved with creating commercials and doing voice overs.
