Megan Rooke Staying Focused

How did you start modeling?
I started modeling after being one of the winners of the “Rock Your Runway” model search put on by the Outlets of Colorado.

Other hobbies/interests besides modeling:
I enjoy Film acting, hiking, trail running, figure skating, swing dancing, writing, and every once in a while I like to dabble in photography and video.

Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Waconia, Minnesota – a relatively small lake town that overflows with character and community.

Did you grow up with a large family?
I am the oldest of four siblings – one younger sister and two younger brothers.

What’s the biggest city you’ve been to?
Probably NYC.

What city do you have on your list to go to before you die?
Venice. I’ve not yet had the chance to go to Italy, but it has been a dream of mine for a long time!

Your Favorites color:
White or a light, smooth shade of ivory.

Fresh berries. Hands down.

What are you doing currently:
I am currently a senior at CCU studying communications and minoring in business. I also am working as a research intern in the University’s Office of the President.

Favorite past jobs?:
My favorite job would have to be among the many coffee shops and cafes that I’ve been a barista at, but I can’t choose a favorite among them!

Who inspires or encourages you?
My mom is one of the most influential and encouraging people in my life. She knows how to cheer me up, challenges me to grow, and she is not afraid to call me out on my weaknesses.

What do you think about when you’re alone in your car?
I find myself wondering what each persons’ story is. For example: “Where is that person driving off to this morning?”, “I wonder what song they are singing along with”, or “I wonder why they are in Colorado (if they have another state’s license plate)”.

What’s your favorite song?
The song “Turnaround” by Camille and Hans Zimmer is definitely one of my go to cheer up songs. It is not a song you would typically hear come up on the radio, but the little “Pa-da-da-dip-du-du-dap, Pa-da-da-di-da” and swing rhythm have never failed to bring a smile to my face or even inspire me to skip down the sidewalk.

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
I would love to be a butterfly. They are so graceful, colorful, and lively, and they decorate the sky like priceless little gems wherever they fly. I feel like butterflies cheer people up too. Many people are inclined to smile when they see a butterfly, and I want to help people smile! Besides, I certainly wouldn’t mind spending my days fluttering from one pretty flower to to next one!

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
“Say Yes to the Dress”. My sister and I watch this show together a lot, so you could say it is a sort of sister bonding show for us. I personally enjoy seeing the unique dress styles and how the store’s teams works around the relational and technical complications to find the perfect dress that the bride finally says “yes” to. The best part is when they show the groom’s reaction at the first look though!

What do you want to be when you grow up?
That is an excellent question. I’m finding that was much easier to answer back when I was seven years old. What I am certain of now is that when I “grow up” I want to be someone who will give more willingly, love more fully, and use my gifts and talents in the way they were designed to be used. The specifics of that are still in the process.

What are you known for?
Many people know me for my baking. I used to spend hours on Pinterest building dessert recipe boards, and then once or twice a week I would choose one (or two or three) recipes to base something off of. Then I would completely NOT follow the recipe and just intuitively feel out the ingredients. The creations almost always turned out amazing!

Where would be your Top 3 places to model in the continental U.S.?
I would love to model in NYC, Miami, or somewhere on a beach in California!
