With the gaping void left by departing judges Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres, American Idol is scrambling for replacements. They seem to be close to locking in one with some weight: Jennifer Lopez.
Despite push-and-pull negotiations that often seemed inconsequential, Lopez is close to locking in for the show’s upcoming season, according to TMZ. The site’s source says, there has been none of the reported diva demands, just “typical negotiating.”
The signing, which could happen as soon as next week, hopes to reenergize the a singing competition show that only retains one original judge (Randy Jackson) and has lowered the age of contestant eligibility to age 15.
As for J. Lo’s comeback album, there’s still no word on it’s release date, after her two singles, “Fresh Out The Oven” and “Louboutins,” both struggled on the charts. —John Kennedy
