Elizabeth “Lizzy” Grant, better known as Lana Del Ray, is a singer and songwriter from Lake Placid, New York. Del Ray is known for her songs and music videos being very nostalgic and melancholic focusing heavy on Americana themes such as, surfing, fireworks and American flags. In her songs she talks about who artistically influences her, she mentions names such as Nirvana, The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, and Bob Dylan. She also mentions that photographers Juergen Teller and Phillip-Lorca DiCorcia influence the pictures in her music videos.
Del Ray released her first professionally produced work , an EP entitled Kill Kill, in 2010 as Lizzy Grant. She then released a collection of songs self-titled Lana Del Rey, for electronic download. Now, signed under Interscope Records, Del Rey released the single, Video Games, which can be found on her upcoming album Born To Die, set to be released January 31, 2012.
