HALFMANHALF and G Force Working

Having goals is not just enough you need to work your goals daily. You looking at artist who do this everyday. With a new album release they are ready to make more major moves. This album is a solid début release by any measure. “GLOW” is a FREE full-length album coming from HALFMANHALF and  Calvin Valentine(G_Force). Together, this is some of their best work to date. This album mixes Half’s raw flow with Calvin Valentine’s amazing soulful sample/synth/instrument-based production (Producer for: Illlmaculate, Planet Asia, TxE & more). “GLOW” also features collaborations with a slew of Northwest talent and beyond including Destro (Boom Bap Project), N.VS (Fangshida), Epp (TxE), Tope (TxE, Living Proof), DJ Ozroc and Sapient (Sandpeople). Released 7.19.2011 download it for FREE at www.oneovertwo.com .

This album reflects going through struggle and coming out refreshed and to a new world. It boasts that we can shine all on our own, with songs like “Let it live” where Half goes through all the things he’s done in the past pointing out that he doesn’t have to do those things today. The music has a grimey yet uplifting appeal marking some of Half’s most mature work yet. Calvin Valentine flawlessly and effortlessly provides the production for the project front to back, flexing his classic hip-hop production style in the likes of Nottz, Dilla, Illmind and others. Their influences combined are unmatched, and if there’s one thing you could say about this album it’s that it’s definitely an original body of work.

“HALFMANHALF is weird. He doesn’t do it like others; sometimes it’s the boom bap, then again, it could be hella bumped up to dubstep. Lyrics are always raw.” – Deena B (KBOO 90.7 FM). Half has released music independently for a decade from the westcoast where he resides, specifically Portland, Or. Starting in a group called Evil Hands w/ Atlas and Low Limit (Lazer Sword) in 2000 (Which disbanded sometime around 2004).He continued working on material with long-time friend and mentor, Low Limit, who was steadily on the rise in the public eye with his group Lazer Sword. Half has opened for such acts as; The Visionaries, Living Legends, Project Blowed, Joell Ortiz (Slaughterhouse), Copywrite and more. He also went on tour with Sapient (Sandpeople) in 2010. What’s the first thing you would say to someone when they ask you to describe yourself as an artist?
I tell them that I rap, produce and make honest original music from the heart.

How long have you been in the industry?
I have been performing and releasing material for about a decade. I have toured with Sapient and opened for such acts as Joell Ortiz (Slaughterhouse), Copywrite, Dj Numark and many more.

Do you have any projects out now?
Yes, myself and producer G_Force (credits: lllmaculate, Planet Asia and more) just released a FREE full-length album on July 19th titled, “GLOW”. The album has been received amazingly well and we are so happy with all the feedback we’ve got. It’s 13 solid tracks featuring appearances by: Sapient (Sandpeople), Tope (TxE), Epp (TxE), Michele Wylen, N.VS, Brown Caesar and DJ Ozroc. You can download it for free at http://www.oneovertwo.com

We will also be releasing a music video to the 1st single, “Satellites” feat. Michele Wylen x Tope, in a couple of weeks.

What inspires your music?
Love, Life and the things that I’ve been through.

Where are you from?
I’m from Portland, Oregon. (West Coast)

What artists in the industry inspire you the most today?
I’m inspired by all kinds of music. As far as rap goes though I really like Elzhi, Sean Price and The Cool Kids. As far as producers go I really like Low Limit, Devonwho, OHNO and Lawzspoken. This list changes all the time because I seem to find new music that inspires me all of the time. You just have to be willing to search for it.

What makes you different from other artist today?
I’m a real person. I don’t represent something I’m not in a genre of music where that is almost standard. I try to make hip-hop from the heart about real situations, for me specifically it would be overcoming years of heroin addiction to now see the world in a different light. Thais what I’ve been through personally, but my music is about much more than that. It’s about believing that it’s possible to be a good person again.

What do you want your future fans to know about you?
First of all, I want them to know that they can trust me. That is what this all about to me, trust. I want them to know I’m always gonna put out a quality product and continue making music true to my heart. Second of all, I want them to go to http://www.oneovertwo.com and download “GLOW” for free. ha!
