Co Model – Samantha Anne
What’s the motivation behind your most recent shoots?
I draw inspiration from many of my surroundings and experiences. I had been scrolling through Pintrest and noticed a picture of two women sitting on washers at the laundry mat reading newspapers , their faces couldn’t been seen , all you could see were their hands holding newspapers and their legs crossed showing off their funky socks. I felt the need to recreate this. I instantly thought of Vaughn Luciano for the photographer. I enjoy his take on lifestyle photography & knew as a team we would make something poppy & flirty. I brought my friend, Samantha Anne , in to join me for this shoot because I knew our friendship would shine through. Samantha is an artist, choreographer of Project Garage , & entrepreneur. You can find Samantha Anne on instagram under Samantha Anne Jane.
Growing up did you know you would get into photography?
Growing up, I always felt like an ugly duck. At times I was outgoing & others a complete social introvert, so honestly I had no clue I would be so wrapped up in modeling / photography . It’s truly an art & a hobby I hope to birth into a career. I started getting into modeling / photography when I started Corpus Christi’s 1st GoGo / Promo troupe, BOSSY Ent. Booking those girls gigs & photoshoots was a ton of fun for me. I enjoyed planning and organizing every detail. One of the photographers I had been working closely with, Jason David Page, began to push me to step in front of the camera and I eventually grew a pair big enough to give it a shot… and it just stuck. I’ve been finding ways to grow as a model / artist everyday since.
Did you have a favorite photographer
There are many photographers that I follow and gain inspiration from. I’ve recently worked with Jason T Harper. He is incredibly talented, I’ve enjoyed working with him, he brings out the beauty in all women. In fact. I have a photo from one of our shoots as the screen saver on my phone, not to be self centered but because looking at that photo reminds me when it’s a sweatpants & bun kind of day that I am still a powerful & gorgeous woman. Mostly, I’ve been teaming up with CherryBones Photography slaying shoots & getting published . We are up to 5 publications just in this year alone which include Texas Inked Magazine, Gothesque Magazine, Cynical Fashion Magazine, Fuse Magazine, & RockaBilly Deluxe Magazine. CherryBones is a visionary, a perfectionist, this woman knows what she’s doing and I’m always down to be in her back pocket when she needs me. CherryBones doesn’t touch anything basic, I see myself working with her till the day she has to plan my funeral because I know she’d make sure I went out in style.
What’s the biggest city you’ve been to?
You know… haha… I haven’t done much traveling in the past. I would have to say it’s a tie between Denver, CO & Austin, TX. I must add though that this is going to change soon. One of my goals is to begin traveling more & experiencing all that I’ve been missing. I know there is much out there I want to be apart of & learn from.
What’s your most favorite city to visit?
I love getting visit my hometown & it’s surrounding areas… Rockport, Port Aransas, Corpus Christi. South Padre. It’s the beach, it’s the fishing, it’s the fresh seafood, it’s getting to see people who knew you when you were knee high. I actually booked a short vacation for this July in Port Aransas, TX. I’ll be staying in a bay view condo, Mayan Princess, with amazing pools and a private pier leading from the pool directly to the beach. I’m excited to soak up the sun and inhale the salty air. The location is so beautiful I had to take advantage and book some shoots down there too.
What city do you have on your list to go to before you die?
There are so many places I want to visit before I die. I’d like to start with anywhere a bikini is a year round fashion trend , like Costa Rica, Jamaica, St. John. Aruba, Cayman Islands, etc.
What is a must have on set?
Music, there is no doubt about it.. Music is powerful, It brings the mood alive. A cold one after the shoot is always a win too.
How can we follow you online?
