Bob Welch, a former member of Fleetwood Mac who also had a solo career, passed away Thursday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chest, police announced.
Welch who was a guitarist and vocalist for the band from 1971 to 1974 was found by his wife Wendy Armistead Welch at their Nashville, Tennessee home around midday. Police stated a suicide note was left at the scene.
A police spokesman voiced Welch was deteriorating from health concerns, but did not give any further info.
Welch departed the ensemble in 1974 and was replaced by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, who propelled the group into international success. Welch was culpable for a few of the group’s early hits “Ebony Eyes,” “Hypnotized,” and “Sentimental Lady”.
In 1976 he formed the rock band Paris before releasing his first solo album ‘French Kiss’ in 1977.
