Kanye West is used to being a front row fixture at fashion shows, but on Saturday, he was backstage. The rapper-turned-designer payed respect to his mother, the late Donda West, with the debut of “Dw by Kanye West,” his first womenswear collection during Paris Fashion Week.
The star-studded audience included designers such as Riccardo Tisci, Alexander Wang, and Jeremy Scott, and celebrities Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, and Ciara, who tweeted, “KANYE is A GENIUS- TONIGHT was MONUMENTAL.”
Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard in da Paint” and Common’s “The Light” played as models strutted down the runway wearing Kanye’s creations. Mr. West walked out to take a bow at the end, wearing a simple white T-shirt, black jeans, and Nike sneakers.
