Chicago Union Leaders Opt to Continue Teachers Strike

The teachers strike swings into week two after a rep of the Chicago Teachers Union unequivocally decided not to terminate the walkout despite the fact that union frontrunners and public school bureaucrats had reached a tentative agreement over the weekend.

The scheming maneuver left Mayor Rahm Emanuel asserting to take this dispute to court to pressurize educators back into the classroom. Mayor Emanuel termed Sunday’s conduct by the teachers union “a delay of choice that is wrong for our children.” Emanuel affirmed that he has requested city attorneys “to file an injunction in circuit court to immediately end this strike.” He further stated the strike is unlawful since “it is over issues that are deemed by state law to be nonstrikable, and it endangers the health and safety of our children.”
